Exhibit description “Atlantic” Works from Berlin
Exhibition as Voyage
During the summer of 2021 Franz Landspersky visited his one-time home of Berlin in search of new work for an exhibition. He contacted old acquaintances and made new and he asked for those willing to submit their work to a voyage, to a new exchange, to an exhibition at The Wall Gallery in Brooklyn USA. These artists agreed and it is important to note that all the artwork presented here has been selected by the artists themselves.
The five artists whose works have been installed at The Wall Gallery for the exhibition titled “Atlantic” are crew members of a vessel assembled from salvaged shipwrecks of our contemporary culture. These artists use navigational methods which meet the tsunami of contemporary culture as autonomous wheels adjusting constantly and precisely to the rush of shallow motives of the ever growing consumer materialisms. Vision here is from a crows’ nest high above the churning foam. And from this vantage a remarkably clear image is wrought.
The Wall Gallery can sometime appear like the below decks cargo hold of a tramp steamer, and it is in this low ceilinged industrial space that the assembled drawings and paintings take remarkable stewardship of the space. Products of the most far outlooks, with eyes strained to see the slight indicators of meaning, find the hints of visionary landfalls. And in pursuit of this quest is enormous detail and exacting craft which grants each work an individual authority.
