The Wall Gallery is especially honored to present the recent work of veteran artist, activist and defender of culture Bill Nogosek. Bill has created a compelling new suite of Fluxus inspired works on paper, the result of complex layering, asemic symbols and found images to produce dazzling jewels, small in scale but grand in meaning. Jasper John’s early and lasting influence on the artist is apparent but perhaps less so are the myriad levels of meaning which only Nogosek can have brought to life.
Bill arrived in Brooklyn from San Francisco in 1978, via the Cleveland Institute of Art and landed in the right bank cauldron of early Brooklyn pioneers called Dumbo. His loft there became a legendary deposit of every manner of data; a laboratory and a library. George Maciunas was an early associate and Bill’s embrace of Fluxus subtleties matched his instincts for collection and analysis. San Francisco’s loss has clearly been our gain. Come by 41 Seabring Street and spend some time with Currency, and your efforts will assuredly enhance your net worth.
